Patient experience encompasses the range of interactions that patients have with all facets of the healthcare system.  This includes the care, communication and the respect they receive from doctors, nurses, and the entire healthcare team.

Understanding patient experience is critical in order for us to move toward patient-centered care. By looking at various aspects of patient experience, we can assess the extent to which patients are receiving care that is respectful of and responsive to individual patient preferences, needs, and values. 

Achieving certification as a Certified Patient Experience Professional (CPXP) demonstrates your commitment and interest in continually improving the patient experience. 

In alignment with the CPXP test structure, all courses are broken down into 4 domains including:

About Your Instructor

Cheri Clancy

Cheri Clancy

Instructor Title

Cheri Clancy MSN, MS, RN, NEA-BC, CPXP is a nurse, patient experience leader, and author. She is the founder of Cheri Clancy & Associates, LLC, a coaching and training firm that uses hard science as a catalyst for soft skill leadership development. Areas of specialty include patient experience strategy, empathy training, holding critical conversations and building workplace resilience.  She is committed to helping organizations build healthy and productive workplace environments.  In addition to presenting, coaching and consulting, she works at Rutgers University, as adjunct faculty for leadership courses.

Cheri has published numerous articles on leadership topics and published her first book with Sigma Theta Tau, The National Honor Society for Nursing, titled Critical Conversations in Healthcare: Scripts and Techniques for Improving Interprofessional and Patient Communications.  She is currently working on a second edition.

She is a member of many professional organizations including the New Jersey State Nurses Association, The Beryl Institute, The NeuroLeadership Institute, The American Organization of Nurse Executives, and the American Society of Inventors.

Cheri has received various honors and awards.  She received the 2016 Professional Nurse Recognition Award with the Organization of Nurse Leaders, New Jersey and was featured as ‘The Leader to Watch’ in the American Organization of Nurse Executives The Voice of Nursing Leadership journal.
